Every parcel could contain a ring, a necklace, or a piece of fine jewelry worth thousands of euros — so the outer mailer needed to protect not just the product, but the trust of the customer receiving it. The brand had previously worked with conventional mailing bags and ran into recurring problems: adhesive seals that loosened in transit, films thin enough to hint at what was inside under bright light, print quality that varied from batch to batch, and barcodes that occasionally failed to match shipment records — a serious issue when each parcel represents a high-value, individually insured item. At the same time, the brand had committed to a sustainability roadmap across its packaging supply chain and could not compromise on environmental credentials to achieve security performance. What the brand needed was a single mailer that delivered tamper-evident protection, complete visual discretion, individual traceability, and a finish refined enough to reflect a luxury unboxing experience — all from a fully compostable material.     Our Solution After reviewing the brand’s artwork, technical drawings, and application requirements, our engineering team developed a custom 100% compostable security mailer manufactured from a three-layer co-extruded PEAT + PLA structure. Each bag was produced at 295mm × 355mm with a thickness of 150 microns (0.15mm), sized and weighted to handle small, dense, high-value items such as jewelry boxes and necklace cases without compromising the bag’s structural integrity.   A Film Built for Discretion For a brand shipping jewelry, discretion isn’t a nice-to-have — it’s a security measure in itself. A mailer that visibly hints at valuable contents is a target. The three-layer co-extruded matte film was produced in Pantone PT 9225C beige, then printed in a controlled sequence: white flood coating on both sides, full Pantone Green PT 8342C coverage, black graphics (NOIR 100%), and reserved white knockout areas for the brand’s logo. The combined effect was a film that gave nothing away — no silhouette, no shine-through, no clue as to what was inside — while still presenting the kind of clean, considered finish a luxury customer expects from the moment the parcel arrives. Dimensional precision mattered just as much as opacity. Every bag was produced with 7.5mm uniform side seals, clean cutting edges, no oversized or undersized sealing, no burring, and a tolerance held within ±5mm — consistency the brand could rely on across every shipment, every season.     A Seal Strong Enough to Protect What’s Inside For jewelry shipments, the seal isn’t just packaging — it’s the first line of defense against tampering, and the first thing a customer checks if something feels wrong on arrival. Each bag incorporated a 40mm-wide red tamper-evident adhesive strip, refined through multiple rounds of adhesion testing until it delivered permanent, non-resealable sealing, high adhesion strength that held through international transit, and unmistakable visual evidence if anyone attempted to open the parcel before it reached the customer. Bonding performance was validated batch by batch, so the brand never had to wonder whether one shipment’s seal would behave differently from another’s.     Every Mailer, Individually Identified Because each parcel could contain a single, individually numbered piece of jewelry, the brand needed a traceability system that matched that level of precision. Every mailer carried an EAN barcode, a production date, and a unique serialized identification number — no two bags alike. A variable-data inkjet coding system was integrated into production so each mailer received its own identifier, with barcode dimensions matching the brand’s drawings exactly, full scanner compatibility, and accurate one-to-one matching between physical parcel and database record — giving the brand a reliable chain of custody from warehouse to doorstep.     Quality Assurance Throughout Production Given the value of what these mailers would carry, quality control was built into every stage of the process. Before mass production, 20 pilot samples were produced and submitted for the brand’s approval — covering film appearance, material cleanliness, color accuracy, adhesive performance, and barcode functionality. Only after sign-off were production materials released for full-scale manufacturing. During blown-film extrusion, our QC team monitored gel particle levels, raw material contamination, surface defects, and thickness consistency, ensuring a stable base for printing and converting. Pantone accuracy — PT 9225C and PT 8342C — was checked against production photographs shared with the brand throughout the print run, with additional controls in place to prevent yellowing or color drift from residual ink during press changeovers. Particular care was given to keeping the brand’s logo and any regulatory marks sharp and legible, as these small details carry outsized weight on a luxury product. Each converting batch was then inspected for seal integrity, cutting quality, side seal uniformity, dimensional accuracy, and surface cleanliness before proceeding to final packing.     Packaging & Logistics Optimization The brand had previously received samples from other suppliers folded for shipment, arriving with visible creases — a presentation issue no luxury brand can accept, even on an outer mailer. We redesigned the packing configuration to eliminate this: 100 bags per recycled PE inner pack (printed with warning information and ventilation holes), 300 bags per export carton in K=K corrugated board with black carton markings, carton size 380 × 320 × 120mm — and critically, every bag packed and shipped flat, with no folding at any stage.     The Result Following approval of the pilot samples, the project moved smoothly into mass production, giving the brand a packaging solution that:   ✓ Concealed contents completely, with no visual cues to a parcel’s value   ✓ Delivered tamper-evident protection suited to individually valuable jewelry shipments   ✓ Provided 100% unique barcode traceability for full chain-of-custody tracking   ✓ Matched Pantone color references precisely, batch after batch   ✓ Maintained consistent quality and dimensional accuracy across production runs   ✓ Arrived flat and crease-free, preserving the brand’s presentation standards   ✓ Met the brand’s sustainability commitments without compromising on security   The mailer has since become part of the brand’s standard packaging for direct-to-consumer shipments across Europe — proof that a fully compostable mailer can meet the security and presentation standards a luxury jewelry brand demands.     Looking for Packaging That Matches the Value of What You Ship?
